Effective March 1st employers who offer COBRA coverage to terminated employees are required to comply with specific provisions of the new HR1 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).
Employers must implement administrative procedures to identify, notify, and provide a new Federal subsidy to eligible employees. In addition, employers must extend COBRA coverage periods and amend group health plan documents to incorporate these changes.
